Funny Cannibal Stories

Man considers himself to be civilized and the most rational highest of all beings. So when we think of the term cannibal we are instantly struck with morbid, abominable or scary thoughts. Cannibals or cannibalism as we know is the most heinous of human acts or behavior. So much so that it goes against the very basic idea of man as a social, gregarious animal. Man considers himself to be civilized, the most rational and the highest of all beings. Thus an act of cannibalism is considered most anti-social and the cannibal is branded as an outcast. However despite these notions there is a delightful tradition of funny cannibal stories, anecdotes or jokes.

Funny stories and jokes are an integral part of our life. They always make us notice that there's a funny side to everything. Besides, stories can be aimed at pointing the good and the bad, humorously or otherwise. Stories are meant to moralize the listeners, as with children who form a major audience to cannibal stories. A stock cannibal story could be as follows:-
There were three friends who were always together. They lived in the city and went to the same school. After school they would always spend some time in the evening playing, cycling and fishing along till night. They loved to ride around the neighboring jungle, so filled with little chirping birds, squirrels and monkeys. One day when they had gone they sat down below a tree and took a bit of rest. Then suddenly they were attacked by a huge cannibal. The cannibal grabbed one of the three friends while the other two hid behind a bush. The cannibal tied the boy and put him in a large pot over a fire. The two friends were worried for the third when they hit upon an idea. They rolled over a puddle of mud and stuck large feathers on their heads. Then they jumped out of the bush and roared ferociously in front of the cannibal. Scared by the ugliness and horror of the two, the quickly fled from them and hid inside the jungle. Thus the two friends were able to save their lone friend from the cannibal.

Such a story would impress upon children as well as adults on the virtues of bravery, intelligence and presence of mind. At the same time this story also points out the terror of evil. The horrible appearance of the two friends was enough to scare away even the cannibal, the very face of evil.

Apart from funny stories of cannibals, there are also many jokes told on cannibals. One example of a cannibal joke could be- Two cannibals were having a clown for dinner. One asked the other, "Does it taste funny for you?" Here's another one- Cannibal one, "Have I come late for lunch?" Cannibal two- "Yes, you've come late."

These jokes on cannibal do not necessarily lighten the evil that they are supposed to represent. It's also interesting that they do not carry any extreme violent images which we might normally associate with cannibals. Such jokes only do a funny take on an object which is normally taken very seriously. Jokes tend to suspend our preconceived views of anything. They satirize everything they take up. And the positive end to it is that jokes are meant to be critical of what they ridicule. We can also say that by representing even an extremely intolerable thing as cannibalism, these stories and jokes help us lighten our mind when we are tense or worried. They only soothe us with their regular dosage of humor.
